WHAT IS EMERGENCY LIGHTING ?

Emergency lighting is there when you need it most.  In fire situations often the main power in a building is unable to function.  Without emergency lighting, it would be very difficult to find your way out of a building and this would put you in a dangerous and frightening position.

Both emergency lighting and emergency exit signs will ultimately help to increase safety in the workplace for employees and customers.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Essentially for all Class 6 buildings over 100m2 require emergency lights; and all Class 6 buildings require at least one exit sign.  All required emergency lights and exit signs should must comply with Australian Standard AS 2293.1

DISCHARGE TEST

All emergency and exit lights have to undergo a discharge test lasting for 90 mins every 6 months as per AS2293.2. With any light failure, it is important to understand that it may not be as simple as replacing the backup battery as there are other elements that may be causing the fault such as a faulty power converter.

SUPPLY AND REPLACEMENT
